Laos Peaberry

It’s a new year and we’re proud to start out 2021 by bringing you a coffee that may be unfamiliar to some of you. We were able to secure a limited amount of peaberry coffee that hails from Laos. There are options out there, but finding some that is fairly traded and certified organic is rare.

We were lucky enough to be connected to some amazing people over at Bolaven Plateau Coffee Producers Cooperative. They were established in 2007 and today are now made up of roughly 1,855 small-scale farms that spread across 55 villages in Laos. If this is your first time hearing about peaberry coffee, you might be asking yourself, “what’s it all about?” A typical coffee cherry has two seeds but some cherries only produce one with incredibly intense sweetness called a peaberry. Peaberry beans are smaller than a standard coffee bean, but are considered by some as one of the best coffees in the world.

This medium roasted, limited coffee with notes of caramel, chocolate-covered raisin and nougat is an opportunity you won’t want to miss out on. It’s a brand-new year and if you’re looking for a way to up your coffee game, this is the one for you.
